A Ripple Summer 2022 article
2022 – A Year in Review. We look back at 2022 at Oasis Life and what our management team is looking forward to in 2023.
Neil Barry – Operations Manager, Oasis Life
2022 was a wonderful and exciting year for Oasis Life! We experienced exponential growth of residents moving in at Clara Anna Fontein and Burgundy Estate and with the amount of growth, we are faced with both challenges and opportunities as we strive for excellence.
One of our proudest achievements this year was the formation of our Residents Committees (RESCOM). Both estates have benefited from the passion of committee members, giving of their time for the interest of fellow neighbours. It is wonderful to see that we share the same goals and vision for Oasis Life.
At Clara Anna Fontein, we are nearing the end of our construction phase and are on the verge of selling out, which is testament to everyone’s dedication and hard work. The team has grown with the welcome addition of a Maintenance Manager and residents have enjoyed the convenience of a skilled handyman. The kitchen complement has grown to meet the demands of residents and their loved ones, and a new landscaping contractor joined us mid-year. We are positive that all our relationships will grow from strength to strength.
At Burgundy Estate, 2022 was a year of many changes and new additions to the estate. Apartment blocks E and F, as well as cottages and houses were added. The influx of new residents has shaped the community in a positive way. The eagerly anticipated Fitness Centre was opened in September with gym facilities and an indoor heated pool. The bowling green has become a huge hit with residents, social games and competitions are in full swing.
We look forward to another successful year and I would like to thank each and every resident for their continued support!

Looking back at 2022, the words “proud” and “blessed” are overarching.
Proud of how wonderful the estate looks and how much the clubhouse has evolved. Proud of the all the events, social gatherings and talks the residents have attended and thoroughly enjoyed.
We have been so fortunate with all the lovely new residents that have moved in. Proud to see how friendships have formed and the care and love between them.
Although we faced challenges this year, we are truly blessed with a group of residents that love to share their ideas, suggestions, and concerns. Our Management and staff have been working closely with our residents to make this retirement estate unique and special.
One of our proudest moments this year, was our first Wellness and Fun Day in May. Friends and family came together, enjoyed good food, live music, and activities in the clubhouse. The day started off with a fun walk for all ages and a stretching class afterwards. Following this event’s great success, we hosted our second Wellness and Fun Day in October.
Blessed with our new team members: Cailey, Thuli, Lerato, Vuyani and Vern who have been great team players and great assets to our team.
More proud moments were when residents volunteered to get involved in Clubhouse activities such as hosting a blind wine tasting, teaching other residents to play Canasta every Monday, line dancing every Friday and baking cakes for our Deli.
I would like to thank each resident for all the love, care, and support. 2022 was good and 2023 will be great!

Looking back at the year that has passed, I can say is one filled with love, laughter, and joy!
I feel so fortunate that I was granted the opportunity to see Oasis Life Burgundy Estate come to life. From when the first resident moved in, to over 80 residents with in just over a one year has been a wonderful and exciting journey. Growing strong relationships with our residents is something that is of utmost importance to us. Coming to work never felt like your normal day of work, but more to coming home to family.
Hosting an arrange of events from bowling competitions on our new bowling green, to art workshops and live bands have been fabulous, not to mention our very popular Sunday Carvery. Seeing the smiles or our residents at these events is what makes everything worthwhile.
I am sure that the new year will bring even more unforgettable moments. We are looking at doing 2023 better than the last, always striving for great care, great commitment, and great consistency.
