It’s been a great year at Oasis Life with new residents joining our community throughout the year in Clara Anna Fontein and the first residents moving into Burgundy Estate.
“We’ve had so much fun at all our events,” says Neil Barry, Operations Manager. “From Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day lunches enjoyed with family and friends, to our monthly Sunday carveries, movement classes, painting and wine tasting. And of course, nothing quite beats a good South African braai!”
Over the last few months, Heather Webb has hosted events where residents were encouraged to be creative, while building relationships and enjoying something from the deli. October and November events included block painting and how to plant mini succulent gardens. For December, Heather has planned a bumper and busy event day. She says of the planned schedule, which is taking place over two sessions with a break in-between, “The projects that I have worked on are for the participants to personalise Christmas in their homes, we will recap on folding techniques that we have done and can improve on, experiment and create.”
“A five-day advent calendar with a difference will be meshed into this and a small gift created to fill a Christmas stocking. A Christmas wreath for the door is always an exciting project. All in all, the crafters should go home with a sack full of Christmas fun and will hopefully be in the mood for a fabulous Christmas.”
On Christmas day, residents can look forward to sitting back and relaxing over a delicious lunch with their families in the Clubhouse. The carvery will include traditional favourites such as roast lamb with mint jelly, seasonal vegetables, trifle, and mince pies.
It’s rewarding to receive positive feedback from our residents such as the lovely message received from Mrs Hon who resides in Burgundy Estate, “We would like to express our sincere appreciation for all the activities you have arranged for us, they are all amazing!”
“With lifestyle being the cornerstone of Oasis Life, ensuring that our residents enjoy the very best hospitality, hosting first class events and making sure that they feel at home, are our top priorities,” says Barry. “After all, it’s what superb retirement at Oasis Life is all about!”
