“When commissioned to decorate this home, I was surprised at how much space there actually was within this unit.” Says Terry Perlman, interior decorator for two of the Oasis Life show houses at Clara Anna Fontein. “I honestly think that it makes for a very comfortable home. All the furniture was custom made and have not been compromised at all in order to fit into smaller areas.”
Terry continues “When setting out the design brief, I was careful to bear potential homeowners’ needs in mind. My most important consideration was the fact that the homes must suit a modern senior who requires a slightly modern space, which also offers comfort. When selecting fabrics and colour schemes, I prefer to work with off a neutral base and then introduce colour in art, scatter cushions, rugs and the smaller ornamental items.”
With the light pouring into the sunroom just off the open plan lounge area, it is quite evident why Terry chose to furnish the enclosed patio as a reading room. “It is a beautiful warm and sunny space and for this reason we had sheer weave roller blinds installed to give the owner the added option of filtering the light and sun at particular times of the day. These blinds also offer extra privacy when needed.” says Terry.
