A Ripple Summer 2022 article
Our Clara Anna Fontein community’s hands have not been idle! A group of ladies have been very busy knitting teddies for charity.
“When a resident heard about Sarmie Mommiez at a Clara Business Network event, she brought the plight of several charities to our community,” says Lezette Breedt, Clubhouse Manager. “The estate is already a pick-up point for food and other items for Sarmie Mommiez and our residents felt that they wanted to give back by knitting teddies for children.”
Tygerberg Children’s Hospital and House of Grace orphanage are two of the charities that are supported by this initiative.
Who is Sarmie Mommiez?
Sarmie Mommiez is a registered non-profit organization [NPO 125-486]. Our mission and vision is to uplift and empower various impoverished communities in the Western Cape, whether through our own endeavours, or with the support of others. The organization was founded on the 13th March 2012 by Cheryl Wilson and a small group of ladies, who saw the need to actively get involved to help those who cannot help themselves. The organization has grown with leaps and bounds and now boast several volunteer Sarmie Mommiez and Daddiez. They help raise funds, raise awareness, raise morale and raise spirits by “responsibly helping” those in need.
