A Ripple Autumn 2022 article
With just over a hundred residents and handovers of houses currently in progress, the luxury retirement estate within Clara Anna Fontein Lifestyle Estate is maturing, with lush gardens bearing testimony to this.
In June 2020, Mike and Wendy Rolfe were the first residents, with their home, aptly being number 1. The Clubhouse, containing a restaurant and deli, library, lounges, patios, and a multi-purpose room opened in December 2020. Since then, it has hosted numerous celebrations, events and popular gatherings such as happy hour, afternoon braais and the popular Sunday carvery.
“We’re currently selling the last phase of Oasis Life Clara Anna Fontein,” says Mariska Auret, Project Director. “It has been an incredible journey since our launch at the end of 2018, to where we are now. To have over a hundred residents thriving in the estate three years later is a dream come true. To see how happy they are, how living at Oasis Life has changed their lives is very rewarding. This is why we do what we do. And it’s mainly through the residents’ word of mouth that we are experiencing a demand for houses – we can’t seem to build them fast enough!”
The retirement estate will contain only 125 houses, with only 28 left for sale. The last phase is currently under construction, with estimated completion date in the first half of 2023. This could be your last chance! “A huge plus of staying on Clara Anna Fontein is the fact that we have a lock-up-and-go house,” says Marie Gauche, resident. “It was an adjustment to move from a large house to a smaller place, but we quickly adapted and made it a comfortable place for us to live.”
Relocating from Hermanus, Marie and her husband decided to downscale and enjoys the mountains, the beautiful environment, and the convenient proximity of Durbanville’s CBD. “I feel very safe here. We don’t have alarm systems or burglar bars like we had in our previous house, which means that you go to sleep at ease, and you are comfortable leaving your home behind when going out.”
“I love gardening, and what I really enjoy is that Oasis Life plants, waters, and maintains the gardens and landscaping but they are very accommodating if we want to plant or change something in our gardens. When we have our children or friends visiting, it’s a pleasure taking them through to the Clubhouse. We enjoy eating there, the service is excellent, the food is great, and the staff are very friendly.”
