A Ripple Winter 2022 article
Set against the foothills of Durbanville’s hills, the secure lifestyle estate of Clara Anna Fontein has matured to 300 households in the greater estate with 130 residents settled in Oasis Life.
In addition to the peaceful co-existence with nature, the lifestyle on the estate is second to none. With an elevated site, panoramic views are standard, with a green belt and wide-open spaces for days. The tranquillity belies the fact that the hustle and bustle of Durbanville’s CBD is a mere five minutes away. With a new convenience shopping centre in the works for the estate, residents will soon be able to walk to their nearest grocer.
“We have handed over 16 new homes from April to June, with six more handovers scheduled for July,” says Johan de Bruyn, Director at Louw & Coetzee Properties. “From 1 April and up to 7 July, we’ve concluded 18 sales, totalling R78 340 000 in sales with purchase prices ranging from R2,6m to R5,5m. This is testament to our happy owners spreading the word and retirees seeing the value of living in this wonderful place.”
The Oasis Life management team has been pulling out all the stops when it comes to hosting events for the residents.
“We love hosting new and exciting events and over the last few months, our residents could enjoy experiences from Happy Hour (one of our most well attended evenings), Bingo!, art classes, a ladies tea and a breakfast hosted by Just Fruit & Veg Market,” says Neil Barry, Operations Manager. “The beer tasting hosted by Jack Black was very popular with the gents, as was the Father’s Day lunch where Chef Michele and her team prepared an exquisite buffet.”
In addition to creating the platform for the community to get to know each other and form new friendships, the Clubhouse is open for all residents to relax, lounge in, meet friends or family for a meal or just to find a quiet space to read the day’s paper. “It’s the holistic lifestyle,” continues Neil. “The setting amongst nature, the knowledge that you are safe and secure and that there is 24/7 primary healthcare available. It’s also about the ability to live your life as you wish but have the option to enjoy the facilities and connect with the community when you choose to do so. Our main aim is to ensure that our residents fall in love with their retirement, and we are happy to report a good success rate!”
