You might have seen Allen’s contact details on an Oasis Life advertisement or social media post. But who is Allen?
Allen Usher entered the property market in 1984 with the formation of Usher Realtors on the KwaZulu Natal South Coast. In 1987 Allen anticipated the development of golf estates in South Africa and focused on the marketing of these estates, which included Selborne Park and San Lameer on the South Coast, Dainfern in Gauteng, Koro Creek near Bela Bela, Matumi in Nelspruit, Steenberg and Atlantic Beach in Cape Town.
In 1994 Allen also founded the only golf timeshare product in South Africa: The Golf Resorts Club. They are now owned by the First Resorts Group and Allen still serves as chairman. The Club’s R100-million plus portfolio consists of 38 properties spread over 16 golf resorts throughout South Africa with over 1 500 members.
The Usher family’s relationship with the Rabie Property Group started in 2004 when Rabie took over the remaining development of the Atlantic Beach Golf Estate. This led to Usher Realtors (now trading as Property World) being appointed to market all Rabie’s residential developments at Century City and Burgundy Estate. Allen attributes the 16 years relationship with Rabie as the most rewarding years of his property career – a deal done with a handshake and no contracts!
Rabie’s retirement brand, Oasis Life, lends itself to a natural progression for Allen. As he has marketed lifestyle golf estates over 36 years, it’s a great opportunity for him to personally focus on the marketing of Oasis Life at Burgundy Estate and be the contact person for clients across the brand.
“I love being involved with Oasis Life” says Allen “As a mature businessman, I can see the value of purchasing a home for life within a beautifully designed and well-maintained estate. The fact that there are no special levies and that levies only increase with CPI makes financial sense. It’s a unique product where you have access to all the fabulous amenities, enjoy top security measures and have recreational facilities while living in a modern home and enjoying complete freedom and autonomy.”
Allen is married to Lynette and they have five children. Three of their children are in the Property World business and the other two are pursuing their respective passions of horse farming and game farm management. Their remaining dependant at home is their dog Zack who still sleeps in their bed!
